Day Five: Girl Scout Cookies

Dear Girl Scouts of America, why, oh why, did you discontinue the best addition to your girl scout cookie line?

Two things disturb me about my encounter with the girl scout selling cookies yesterday. First, they have renamed most of the cookies with retarded, indistinguishable names. My peanut butter sandwiches are now called "Do-Si-Dos." But my outrage and lamenting center on the fact that
the "All Abouts" aka "Thanks A Lot" cookies are no longer being offered. For those of you outside girl scout cookie fandom, these were basic butter cookies that were dunked in a dark chocolate. FANTASTIC for dipping in milk.

Upon researching this atrocity, I found out that the ridiculous naming thing may have happened prior to this year without us knowing. According to this blog about girl scout cookies, there are two different factories that manufacter these delicious treasures, which accounts for different cookie availability and naming at various places throughout the country. So while people on one coast are enjoying their "Samoas," people on the other coast are similarly enjoying their "Carmel Delights." Why wouldn't they just stick with what people know?

As for the "Thanks A Lot" cookies (or whatever you want to call them), I'll just have to relish in the age of information and find a recipe for something similar. Already found This Website titled "Almost Like Girl Scout Cookies," which doesn't have me too stoked. "Almost Like" doesn't instill confidence. Take for example, "almost like a real diamond," "almost like new," "tastes almost like chicken..." We'll have to see how it goes.

Well, off to bake. And as long as your curious, yes, my diet is going smashing.
