I know, I know. I have deprived my dear readers (...all 11 ish of you...) from the inner workings of my life for 50 days. But take heart. No Blog = Busy Karen, and Busy Karen = completing list items.
2. Try 20 new recipes outside of new recipes listed below. (18/20) (Karen)
- Curried Zucchini Soup (From This Recipe). Not too shabby. It's a refreshingly light soup, and I might even enjoy it cold.
- Irish Lamb Stew (From This Recipe). It's really not fair of me to judge this recipe since I omitted a lot of items, replaced potatoes with turnips, and threw everything in a crock pot for six hours. Still tasty enough for a stew, though.
- Curried Hummus (From This Recipe). SERIOUSLY need to adjust the spice on this one... Almost killed me... lol....
- Strawberry Pie (From This Recipe). While my husband is a jerk for refusing to even try the pie, I found this to be absolutely delicious with homemade strawberries. Assembly is simple: put everything in a COLD pot like the first reviewer suggested and let everything warm/thicken together.
- Bacon Risotto (From This Recipe). LOVE it. I say again: LOVE IT! We cooked the bacon in the microwave instead of frying it. Makes it so much crispier and better.
6. For one month straight, commit ourselves to grocery shopping only once per week.
Done and Done. To be honest, I've been committing to grocery shopping once every TWO weeks. Stock up around pay day and make it last. It's a great financial strategy.
28. Find a good facial cleansing system for less than $30/month.(Karen)
I've found that the Neutragena Wave has worked really well for me. I especially like the Shine Free cleansing pads. They exfoliate SO much better than the "Exfoliating Pads." I've also started using the combination skin moisturizer instead of sensitive skin. My face has been a lot clearer lately.
30. Put in new condo flooring.
Done and Done.
31. Sell the condo.
As of today, it is on the market!!
43. Pay off the remaining balance on Gary’s Car.
It's ours now!
50. Create “gift fund” for birthdays/Christmas
$20 a paycheck now going to Christmas Fund.
64. Surprise Gary with something at least three times (Karen). (1/3)
Not too long ago, Conan Obrien brought his "Prohibited from Being Funny on Television" tour to Chicago. Guess who scored 4th row seats? Guess who tricked Gary into thinking he was going downtown for my employer's award dinner night. :) (....Me!) The show itself was fun, but not outstanding.
81. Go apple or strawberry picking with my parents.
Strawberry picking wasn't great this year, but we got enough, and they tasted good!
84. Visit the Brookfield Zoo.
Gary and I went last weekend. Best part? The bat cave, where they fly over you. It's cool and very NOT COOL at the same time.
So is that enough for you? Or are you unimpressed? :) Stay tuned for more developments.
And don't forget my other blog: littlesuccess.blogspot.com.
